Club Affiliations:

I belong and support the Verienigter Deutsch Kurzhaar Klub (VCDKK) and the North American Deutsch Kurzhaar Club (NADKC) as well as the Verien Deutsch Drahthaar Group North America (VDD-GNA).

Both Deutsch Kurzhaar clubs promote the presence of the versatile hunting Deutsch Kurzhaar in North America however their individual bylaws are sligthly different due to different Kurzhaar breeding philosophies. The testing purposes and principles are identical.

Both the VCDKK and the NADKC function under the umbrella of the Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband (DKV) based in Germany. Testing and judging is also influenced and approved by the JGHV.

In addition to the NADKC and VCDKK Deutsch Kurzhaar organizations, I belong to the Verien Deutsch Drahthaar Group North America (VDD-GNA) commonly referred to by Kurzhaar owners as the DD (Deutsch Drahthaar) Group. The DD group functions under the umbrella of the JGHV and emphasizes and protects breed purity and the German performance based breeding system for versatile hunting dogs.

I have found that the Deutch Drahthaar folks are a great group of family oriented people and are very willing to offer assistance to those Deutsch Kurzhaar owners that are dedicated to the German performance based breeding and testing system. In fact many of the Drahthaar test formats are identical to those for the Kurzhaar and may be substituted for some of the test required by the Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband for the Deutsch Kurzhaar.

For that reason I have included a link to the VDD-GNA on this website and from time to time may list names of reputable Deutsch Drahthaar breeders that I know and trust. The benefits of belonging to the VDD-GNA are similar to those listed for the NADKC and VCDKK. Being a member of all three clubs provides me and my dogs with and expanded array of training and testing opportunities. It is to the advantage of any Deutsch Kurzhaar owner to belong to all three organization so I recommend and encourage membership in all three groups.
